Hello bloggers! I know I am late this week but the Easter festivities were so wonderfully exhausting, I barely had time to think. Cooking for 20 people was work but it turned out great and no one got any food poisoning that I know of.
It was a remarkably busy week. I am gearing up for my self challenge, getting ready for our spring break next week ( i will have 6 kids home), working on lots of artsy things ( feeling a creative surge) and getting ready for track meets, prom, DI, new grandbabies, and doing all this while hot flashing and mood swinging and forgetting why I was doing any of it.
But never Fear…. I have black cohosh, evening primrose and a really helpful prescription to keep me from going bat poo crazy….. So on to the next thing.
8 week Challenge of the Menopausal artist
WEEK 1 ( My poor neglected body) I chose to get active for my first week of my personal challenge along with trying to eat better.
I did it! I pulled out the yoga mats, the straps, the bricks, my videos and my subscription to the yoga journal. I have been getting up at 5 AM to work on my practice. I am already starting to feel better. Sometimes I even hop on over to the treadmill when i am done.( don’t get excited S J, I am still not running) This yoga lifestyle is my change for week one.
I am not going to lie here… there are several muscles that thought that they were retired and are refusing to cooperate as well as they did 8 months ago. Down ward facing dog has become the “oh crap I’m going to fall ” stance. Boat pose is now the sinking ship and those gentle twists that remove toxins from the body and internal organs are now releasing other things. It amazes me how I let it all just go and even more amazing is how far it went.
My beautiful cowboy has been so supportive. He is actually getting up with me in the morning. He has a back injury that he has to keep stretched out so he “yogalates” as he calls it with me. With the exception of a few curse words and the occasional ” you have got to be kidding me” and” OH , Hell No” he’s got it down. Thanks babe….
I didn’t get as much time as I wanted to be artsy this week but I did spend some time with my stamps and inks and Tim Holtz distress stains. I have had this stuff for a while and decided to try something I learned a while back. actually a few techniques , combined.
This butterfly stamp came from stamping up. It’s huge and I love it so. I used the distress stains to color it. Glittered it up with ultra fine black glitter and finished it up with diamond stickles. I Love me some diamond Stickles.
Going to use this in a mini book I am working on…. more to come later.
My phone finally went out this week. I have had my phone for years. It had a key pad. I knew it and it knew me. I don’t know if I am truly electronically challenged or if I am just using that as an excuse to free myself up from the controlling thing, But either way … at this point… it’s all for not. I now have a touch screen , application using, music downloading, facebooking, texting calling machine. I Hate it. If I could just carry around a big old rotary dial phone, I would do it. What could I possibly need that much technology for?
I really just want my life back the way it was when i was 15. I didn’t have a cell phone and somehow my mom always knew where I was, what I was doing and where to look for me. Parents talked to each other back then. They told on us. Now we have all this communication technology and noone talks to each other.. HMMM.
A simpler time, a quieter time, the last of the face to face relationships.
We made this punch for our Easter cook out this year.. Down here in NM it was 80 degrees So it was sort of summer. It was so good I though I would share it with you!
